Houston, TX.  The NCSA (National Club Swimming Association) has announced the starting times for the 2007 NCSA All-American Swimming Meet that will be held on Oahu at the new City and County of Honolulu’s Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center, in Waipahu, Hawaii.  The All-American Meet will be held over Thursday and Friday, June 7th and 8th, with start times of 7:30 PM.

NCSA President Kevin Milak said, “We are extremely appreciative that Aquatic Director Glenn Pang has assisted us in bring this outstanding event to Oahu for so many top level swimmers.  Swimming Coach Brain Lee, Iolani Swim Club, also did a great job in working with the National Club Swimming Association.  The logistics of such a big effort are very complicated and we are very excited about staging the NCSA All-American Swimming Meet in Hawaii.”

The All-American Meet will feature members of the 2007 NCSA All-American Team, a team selected by placing in the top 16 in each event at the NCSA Junior Nationals, held in late March in Orlando, FL.  Over 1300 swimmers under 18 years of age, participated in the 2007 NCSA Jr. Nationals.  The approximately 90 swimmers and coaches will be split into two teams, the All-American East and the All-American West.  The two days of competition will be held in long course meters and include all of the individual events, including the 50s of each stroke, and all five relays.

Some of the featured up and coming swimmers will include Buddy Turner (AFOX), Cory Chitwood (Northern KY Clippers) the high point winner at Jr. Nationals, Matt McLean (Curl Burke), Josh Hafkin (Rockville Montgomery), Adam Klein (Cresent City), and Brent Hitchcock (Dayton Raiders) .  On the ladies side, Melinda Roberts (Raleigh Swimming) the high point winner at Jr. Nationals, Katherine Raatz (Golden West), Shara Stafford (Topeka Swim), Dana Christ (Oakland Live Y’ers), Abbie Fish (Lakeside), and Joanna Thomas (Gloucester Cnty Inst of Tech).

The NCSA All-American Team will assemble in Los Angeles and fly to Honolulu on Sunday, June 3rd.  They will train and prepare for the meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and then compete on Thursday and Friday.  The All-Americans will have off on Saturday to be “tourist” and enjoy the sights of Oahu.  On Sunday, June 10th, the swimmers will board flights back to the Mainland.   Meet/Trip Manager Coach Bob Gillett commented, “We are very excited to be offering this opportunity to these great young developing swimmers, their coaches and officials.  We think it will be one of their more memorable experiences in their swimming careers. We know it has provided tremendous motivation for these swimmers to train for making the selection to this team.  We hope that this motivation will carry over to their future training and efforts to make USA National Teams as they grown in our sport.”

The meet format, complete coaching staff and progress of the trip and meet will be released in the future. Your can follow this event at: www.swimmingworldmagazine.com and www.ncsa-usa.org

It should be great fun for the swimmers and everyone in the swimming world will enjoy reading, hearing and seeing all of the inside action during the week; from the actual swimming meet, to the swimmers’ activities around Oahu and the happenings in the “All-American Village” at the University of Hawaii.  The swimmers families, friends, coaches and teammates back home will be able to follow all the action.”
